Pune : The Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), India’s apex automotive regulatory institution under MoRTH, today marked a landmark moment as Dr. Devendra Singh, Director, CIRT, led a senior delegation to meet the Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, who formally inaugurated CIRT’s Diamond Jubilee Year (2026–27) and unveiled its Diamond Jubilee Logo.
The Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of CIRT’s service since its founding in 1967. Celebrations run September 2026 to September 2027, honouring the milestone and reaffirming CIRT’s commitment to the future of mobility.
“Ensuring Safer & Secure Mobility” : The Diamond Jubilee Logo carries the theme “Ensuring Safer & Secure Mobility”, reflecting CIRT’s enduring mandate and its continued focus on road safety, secure transportation, technological innovation and future-ready mobility solutions.
The CIRT delegation received by the Hon’ble Minister comprised: Dr. Devendra Singh – Director, CIRT, Shri Shekhar Dhole – Head, Technical Secretariat, Shri Farukh Makhdoom – Head, Automotive Cybersecurity, Shri Umesh Suryawanshi – Head, Research & Consultancy
During the meeting, the delegation formally invited the Hon’ble Minister to visit CIRT, Pune, for the Diamond Jubilee’s formal inauguration and its planned events through 2026–27. A formal invitation letter, along with a framed invitation, was presented to Shri Nitin Gadkari on the occasion.
The Diamond Jubilee Year will feature a wide range of national-level technical, research, awareness, capacity-building and commemorative initiatives, including:
● Grand Inauguration Ceremony and release of CIRT’s Vision, Mission & 10-Year Strategic Roadmap
● National workshop and technology showcase on V2V & V2X connected-vehicle technologies
● Inauguration of CIRT’s Automotive Cybersecurity Penetration Testing Laboratory
● Specialised testing & certification workshops for Bus Body Builders, Manufacturers and EV makers on the latest CMVR/safety regulations
● Automotive Cybersecurity Talent Development programme for students and emerging professionals
● National workshops on Connected Mobility, Cyber Resilience, Vehicle Registration & Fitness, and AI-based Automated Driving Test Systems
● Diamond Jubilee Podcast & Knowledge Series featuring policymakers, experts and industry leaders
● “Moving India towards safer Mobility” – a national awareness initiative on passenger safety and technical compliance
● Road Safety Month activities, covering a Road Safety Compendium and CIRT’s commemorative Annual Calendar 2027
● Recognition of individuals and institutions who shaped CIRT’s six-decade journey
The inauguration of the Diamond Jubilee Year is therefore not merely a commemoration of 60 years of excellence, but a renewed national commitment to building a safer, more secure, technologically advanced and sustainable road transport ecosystem for India.
