Farmers from Maharashtra have reported an increased yield through wheat variety Shriram Super 111 seed by Shriram Farm Solutions, a unit of DCM Shriram Ltd. Shriram Super 111 is one of the innovative research-driven products developed by the company to enable farmers enhance their crop yield and farm productivity.
Since its launch, Shriram Super 111 wheat seed has gained popularity among farmers across various regions in Maharashtra particularly in Marathwada and Paschim Maharashtra region. The variety has been developed by world-renowned wheat scientist at Shriram Fertilizers and Chemicals. Shriram Super 111 wheat seed is popular due to its yield superiority over several other wheat varieties. Along with this, the additional traits of more fodder, shining bold grain and good ‘chapati’ making quality makes it the preferred choice of seed for wheat in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan
Bhagwan Lakhaji Kumawat, a farmer from Chalisgaon in Jalgoan district, Maharshtra, sowed Shriram Super 111 wheat seed in 5 acres of his land after a demonstration from Shriram Farm Solutions in the village.
He is extremely elated by his decision as he was able to get 25 qtl/acre yield which is approx 5 qtl more than what he has got from other varieties. This has translated to an additional profit of approx ₹ 10,000 per acre. He observed that the length of the ear (13-16 cm) is much more in this variety and the grains are lustrous as well as bold. At 90-100 cm, he finds the height of the crop appropriate and didn’t face any issue of lodging. He swears by Shriram Super 111 for higher level of production both in terms of quality and quantity.
Farmers across Maharshtra have experienced similar success using Shriram Super 111 wheat seeds. Another experienced farmer Rajendra Deshmukh from Nasik had sown Shriram Super 111 in 5 acre of his field. He was able to get 25-26 qtl/acre yield which was 4-5 qtl per acre more than other popular Varieties. He witnessed 80-90 grains per spike. Along with higher yield, he is very impressed with the preference of Shriram Super 111 wheat in mandis due to the lustrous grains.
