{"id":9781,"date":"2026-08-03T11:57:56","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T11:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenewzbiz.com\/?p=9781"},"modified":"2026-08-03T11:57:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T11:57:56","slug":"india-data-centre-square-yard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenewzbiz.com\/?p=9781","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s data centre boom to drive housing demand of over 195 million sqft by 2030: Square Yards report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi, August 3, 2026:\u00a0<\/strong>India&#8217;s rapidly expanding data center ecosystem is set to become a signi\ufb01cant driver of residential real estate demand in the coming years, according to a new report by proptech company Square Yards.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, India&#8217;s proposed data centre pipeline of approximately 9,030 MW has the potential to generate nearly 4.33 lakh ecosystem jobs, translating into an estimated 195 million square foot (sqft) of residential space demand by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0research\u00a0report\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0Gurugram-headquartered\u00a0company\u00a0that\u00a0recently achieved\u00a0a\u00a0unicorn\u00a0status\u00a0after\u00a0receiving\u00a0over\u00a0$95\u00a0million\u00a0in\u00a0fresh\u00a0funding\u00a0highlights that,\u00a0unlike\u00a0traditional\u00a0commercial\u00a0developments,\u00a0data\u00a0centres\u00a0create\u00a0value\u00a0by attracting\u00a0investments\u00a0in\u00a0power\u00a0infrastructure,\u00a0\ufb01ber\u00a0connectivity,\u00a0logistics, commercial establishments and supporting services, gradually transforming surrounding regions into thriving urban ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>While data centres are often viewed purely as digital infrastructure assets, the report reveals that their long-term impact extends well beyond technology, acting as\u00a0catalysts for housing demand, infrastructure investment and urban expansion across emerging growth corridors.<\/p>\n<p>India currently generates nearly 20% of the world&#8217;s digital data but accounts for only 4% of global data centre capacity, indicating substantial headroom for infrastructure expansion. With arti\ufb01cial intelligence, cloud computing, and enterprise digitisation accelerating investments, India&#8217;s installed data centre capacity is expected to grow signi\ufb01cantly over the coming years, bringing with it a new wave of infrastructure-led real estate development.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the \ufb01ndings,\u00a0<strong>Vivek Agarwal, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Of\ufb01cer, Square Yards<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;For decades, India&#8217;s real estate growth has been shaped by highways, industrial corridors, airports and IT parks. Data centers represent the next evolution of that story.\u00a0While\u00a0these\u00a0facilities\u00a0themselves\u00a0employ\u00a0relatively\u00a0few\u00a0people,\u00a0they\u00a0attract\u00a0the critical infrastructure that enables long-term urban development. Investments in power, \ufb01ber connectivity and logistics create con\ufb01dence for businesses, developers and institutions, eventually driving residential and commercial growth around\u00a0these emerging digital corridors. Instead, it identi\ufb01es a 5-15 km &#8216;Golden Ring&#8217; surrounding major facilities where infrastructure upgrades, mixed-use developments, residential townships, retail centers and civic amenities are expected to \ufb02ourish. As these supporting ecosystems mature, they create sustained housing demand driven by ancillary employment and economic activity rather than direct workforce concentration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Among the major bene\ufb01ciaries, Maharashtra is projected to generate over 54 million sqft of residential demand, followed by Karnataka with nearly 28 million sqft, Andhra Pradesh with over 23 million sqft, Uttar Pradesh with approximately 22.7 million sqft, Telangana with 21.6 million sqft and Tamil Nadu with 19.4 million sqft.
