Schindler Award\u00a0from\u00a0The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), one of the apex bodies in the world of GI Endoscopy. The award was presented to Dr. Reddy in ASGE\u2019s annual Crystal Awards at a virtual ceremony. Rudolf V. Schindler Award is the highest category in the prestigious Crystal Awards named after Dr. Schindler who is considered as \u201cthe father of gastroscopy.\u201d Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy became the\u00a0first-ever Indian medical practitioner\u00a0to get this recognition from ASGE for his exemplary work in the field of endoscopy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Klaus Mergener, President, ASGE\u00a0while presenting the\u00a0Rudolf V. Schindler Award\u00a0to Dr. Reddy said\u00a0<i>\u201cASGE\u2019s highest honor is given to a member who has accomplishments in endoscopic research, teaching, and\/or service to the field of GI Endoscopy exemplifies the standards and traditions of Dr. Schindler.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cDr. Reddy is one of the first to promote endoscopy in India and has led the charge of educating numerous endoscopists all over the world,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0added\u00a0Dr. Mergener.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion,\u00a0Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals\u00a0said,\u00a0<i>\u201cIt is very humbling for me as an International Member of the ASGE to receive ASGE\u2019s Rudolf V. Schindler Award. This is also a testament to all the endoscopists worldwide even from the developing nations that hard work and dedication are recognized by Society irrespective of where they work. With this honor, I rededicate myself to the education and promotion of quality endoscopy. My contributions to the field of endoscopy and my success would not have been possible without the support of my wife Carol and my family. I owe deep gratitude to my colleagues and staff at AIG hospitals, India for sharing and supporting my vision of providing quality affordable care, promote education and research in endoscopy.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i>This award has come in the backdrop of another distinguished achievement of Dr. Reddy being recently inducted into the newly elected fellows of the prestigious American Association For The Advancement Of Science (AAAS). Dr. Reddy<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0is\u00a0the first Indian medical doctor in the last 100 years to receive the Fellowship of AAAS\u00a0which was founded in 1848 marking the emergence of a national scientific community in the United States. It is the world&#8217;s largest multidisciplinary scientific society and a leading publisher of cutting-edge research through its\u00a0<i>Science<\/i>\u00a0family of journals. AAAS presented the prestigious\u00a0<\/span>rosette pins in gold and blue, colors symbolizing science and engineering along with the official certificate. Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy was selected under the category of medical sciences for the pioneering work in gastroenterology, particularly advancement in the therapeutic pancreatic biliary endoscopy and innovations in transgastric endoscopic surgery; and for service to international gastroenterology societies.
